Vision and Values

Lighting Up Life and Learning

Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Vision Statement

At St Sampson’s we value all children as unique and made in the image of God. We recognise, celebrate and nurture their individual talents and skills to enable them to reach for excellence and aspire to their ambitions. We will instil a love of learning, a spirit of curiosity, a desire to be their best and become independent, well-rounded and respectful members of our society, who strive to make the world a brighter place.

Our Values

Our Christian Values underpin the life of our school through policy and in practice. We look closely at one value a term in our Collective Worship (as a whole school and in class) and explore what it means to us as well as its Biblical roots and Christian teaching. These core values are embedded in our school life and are shared values that guide us as we work and grow together in our community.

Our Logo

This logo represents our school and has been designed to reflect our school vision and mission statement, as well as reflect our community and values. All elements of the design have come from the children. All children across the school contributed to the design process and all their ideas were collated and sent off so they could be shared with the designer. She has incorporated lots of their ideas, both from their drawings and also from their words and responses.

At the centre, we have our ‘SS’ emblem, with the gold on the green background. This is easily identifiable as our St Sampson’s emblem that we have on our school uniform and flag.

The candle in the centre represents Jesus, the light of the world. We light the candle at the start of Collective Worship. This also represents our distinctive Christian character.

The book at the bottom represents reading – the life skill that all children will learn at school and from which all future learning can be built upon. It is the foundation of our learning.

The rainbow over the top was chosen by many children in their designs when thinking creatively about light. It can be representative of many things – hope, happiness, diversity and also a symbol that underpins the Church of England’s vision for education, “Life in all its fullness” John 10:10

The figures around the outside are reaching high to symbolise raising aspirations; reaching for the stars. In addition, they can be seen to be joining together, wrapping round the ‘heart’ of our school.

Stars, like the rainbow, were used by lots of children in their designs. Our children are all St Sampson’s Stars and we encourage them to light up their lives and learning, as well as that of those around them.

“Let your light shine before others, they they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven.” Matthew 5:16
