Design Technology

At St. Sampson’s, children learn to produce practical solutions to real problems, through the teaching of technical understanding and subject knowledge, designing and developing ideas, ‘making’ skills and evaluative skills.

Each year group usually covers three D&T topics each year, often taught during a ‘DT week.’ Furthermore, one of the topics each year will be a cooking project, which will focus on aspects of nutrition and healthy eating.

Children are encouraged to explore and practise using different materials and tools so that they can become resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens. We aim to prepare them for living and working in a technological world, encouraging their curiosity, imagination and creativity, inspiring them to become life-long designers.
